Apercu Wins Golden Stakes
Coolmore sire Encosta de Lago (Fairy King-Shoal Creek, by Star Way) added a juvenile black-type success (& his 42nd individual stakes-winner) when daughter Apercu (Encosta De Lago-Making Fey, by Zabeel) finished fast to grab victory by a long-head over her male rivals in the $100,000 Listed Golden Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Doomben. Apercu (ridden by Darren Beadman for trainer Clarry Conners) defeated the colt Kingda Ka (Flying Spur-Fizzi Lizzi, by Royal Academy) & gelding Sam's Express (Anglia-Express Train, by Green Line Express). Apercu (a $470,000 yearling consigned by Yarraman Park at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 1 win & 2 placings from 5 starts for $83,350 earnings.
