3 Aust Entries For UK Gr1 July Cup
In the UK, this season's Gr1-winning Australian sprinters Miss Andretti, Bentley Biscuit & Magnus are among the 71 entries for England's premier sprint (& most valuable Gr1 sprint run in Europe) the £375,000 (A$900,000) Gr1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket on July 13, reported racingpost.co.uk. The 5YO mare Miss Andretti (Ihtiram-Peggie's Bid, by Marooned) notched 3 successive Gr1 victories in 5 weeks through February-March when winning the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Caulfield, Gr1 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley & Gr1 Coolmore Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley in course record time (to follow last September's Gr1 Manikato Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley also in course record time). The 5YO gelding Bentley Biscuit (Peintre Celebre-Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) also made it 3 successive Gr1 wins in last weekend's Gr1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben; that followed April victories at Royal Randwick in both the Gr1 AJC All Aged Stakes (1400m) & Gr1 T.J.Smith Stakes (1200m). And 4YO entire Magnus (Flying Spur-Scandinavia, by Snippets) won the Gr1 Galaxy (1100m) at Warwick Farm in March.
