Authorized 3lbs Ahead Of Rivals In UK Derby Ratings
Meanwhile despite currently being a "red-hot favourite" for the Gr1 English Derby, 3YO colt Authorized (Montjeu-Funsie, by Saumare) "on the ratings is just 3lbs clear of his nearest rival after the last of the recognised trials," reported racingpost.co.uk. Authorized blitzed his rivals by 4-lengths in last week's Gr2 Dante Stakes (10.5 furlongs) at York to gain a Racing Post rating of 121, "but 118 is the mark held by Ballydoyle contender Eagle Mountain for his 5th place in the Stan James 2000 Guineas on May 5," noted racingpost.co.uk. And his Ballydoyle stable-mate colt Admiralofthefleet (Danehill-Rafina, by Mr Prospector) rated 117 in winning the recent Gr3 Dee Stakes (10.5 furlongs) at Chester. Authorized (owned by Kuwaiti businessmen Saleh Al Homaizi & Imad Al Sagar) was a 400,000 guineas (A$1.04m) yearling at the 2005 UK Tattersalls October sale & last season won the UK Gr1 Racing Post Trophy (8 furlongs) at Newbury; he now has 2 wins from 3 starts & following confirmation he will be ridden at Epsom by Frankie Dettori, has firmed dramatically with all British booking firms in pre-post Derby betting.
