Maryland 2YOs Day-1: US$350k Chief Seattle Colt
Danny Dion's Canadian-based Bear Stables paid the Day-1 top price of US$350,000 for a Chief Seattle colt (out of stakes-placed Foolish Pleasure mare Sabreen) during the opening session of the 2-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2YOs-In-Training Sale at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium in the US. The colt (consigned by Florida pin-hooker Murray Smith as agent) worked 2 furlongs in 21.6sec during the pre-sale breeze-up session. Dion's trainer Reade Baker told thoroughbredtimes.com he thought the colt was the best horse in the sale, noting: "He's a big, fancy horse that worked fast, right? That's what we're here for."
