Miss Andretti Rated Best European Sprinter
Australian sprinter Miss Andretti's "blinding speed, displayed to great effect in last Tuesday's Gr2 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, has just edged out Soldier's Tale's courageous final-strides Gr1 Golden Jubilee victory on Saturday as the best performance by a sprinter in Europe this season," reported racingpost.co.uk. The authoritative UK Racing Post handicapping team has rated Miss Andretti's victory on 126 & the Soldier's Tale win at 125. Senior Racing Post handicapper Paul Curtis commented: "We feel Miss Andretti deserves the nod at this stage as, although the Golden Jubilee form looks pretty solid & she was well beaten on Saturday, the King's Stand was run in very fast time on ground that made for less uncertainty as to the merit of the overall performances. It's fair to say it was a tight decision, because the British sprinters who contested the Golden Jubilee look a more progressive bunch than those in the King's Stand, but Miss Andretti has blinding speed & that just swung us in her favour when it came to rating the 2 events." Curtis added: "Takeover Target ran in both races, of course, finishing 4th to Miss Andretti & 2nd to Soldier's Tale, and that, along with the rain-softened surface on Saturday, was another factor we took into account. You've got to think that her eclipse in the Golden Jubilee was partly attributable to the fact that she'd run such a big race only 4 days previously."
