Heatseeker Wins US Gr1 Santa Anita Handicap

In the US, former Coolmore shuttler Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat-Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) added a Gr1 triumph when 5YO entire Heatseeker (Giant's Causeway-Rusty Back, by Defensive Play) "unleashed an explosive turn of foot leaving the final turn" & went on to score a 0.75-lengths victory in the US$1 million Gr1 Santa Anita Handicap (10 furlongs on the all-weather track) for 4YOs & up at Santa Anita Park in California, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Irish-bred Heatseeker (ridden by Rafael Bejarano for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer) defeated fast-finishing Go Between (Point Given-Mediation, by Caerleon) & UK-bred Gr2-winning fellow 5YO entire Champs Elysees (Danehill-Hasili, by Kahyasi). Heatseeker also won December's Gr3 Native Diver Handicap (9 furlongs on the all-weather Cushion Track) at Hollywood Park & at his latest start finished runner-up in the Gr2 San Antonio Handicap at Santa Anita on February 9. Overall he now has 6 wins from 15 starts for US$927,776 earnings.
