Florida 2YOs Day-1: US$525k Lemon Drop Kid Colt
Agent John Kimmel (acting on behalf of New York real estate investor Eli Gindi) paid US$525,000 for a Lemon Drop Kid colt (out of 9YO stakes-winning Storm Creek mare August Storm) consigned by Off The Hook as agent. The colt previously sold for US$150,000 at Keeneland last September & clocked 10.2sec for 1 furlong during the pre-sale breeze-up session. Kimmel told bloodhorse.com: "There wasn't much not to like about him. I liked the way the horse looked physically: he's got tremendous balance, a beautiful eye, scope, a great walk & good bone. He looked good on the racetrack & he's good on his technical parameters: X-rays & scoping. Lemon Drop Kid is coming around as a stallion."
