Swiss Ace Wins Chief De Beers Quality
Emirates Park sire Secret Savings (Seeking The Gold-Jurisdictional, by Damascus) added a black-type success (& 14th individual stakes-winner) when favoured 3YO colt Swiss Ace (Secret Savings-Rapid Serve, by Carson City) scored a 1.25-lengths victory against older rivals in the $75,000 Listed Chief De Beers Quality (1110m) at Doomben in Brisbane. Front-running Swiss Ace (ridden by Ken Pope for trainer Mick Mair) survived a protest from the runner-up in defeating 6YO gelding Sectagonal (Octagonal-Lady Secola, by Twig Moss) & 8YO gelding Nessuno (Mukaddamah-Erin's Choice, by County). Ultra-consistent Swiss Ace (an $8,500 weanling at the 2005 Magic Millions National Sale & subsequently a $6,000 yearling at the Brisbane Bonus Yearling Sale) now has 7 wins & a runner-up (last start in the Listed Vo Rogue Plate over 1350m at Doomben on March 15) from 9 starts for $169,750 earnings.
