Monday, 12th May 2008

Coolmore announced multiple Gr1-winning 4YO stallion Scat Daddy (Johannesburg-Love Style, by Mr Prospector) will join its Australian roster for the upcoming breeding season & stand at $16,500. Kentucky-bred Scat Daddy (a US$250,000 yearling at the Keeneland September Sale) recorded 5 wins (including 2007's Gr1 Florida Derby over 9 furlongs at Gulfstream Park & Gr2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Gulfstream, plus 2006's Gr1 Champagne Stakes over 8 furlongs at Belmont Park & Gr2 Sanford Stakes over 6 furlongs at Saratoga) & 2 placings (in 2006's Gr1 Hopeful Stakes & 2007's Gr3 Holy Bull Stakes) from 9 starts for US$1,334,300 earnings. He was retired in June 2007 & stood his initial season at Coolmore Ashford in Kentucky for US$30,000. Coolmore Australia's Michael Kirwan commented: "Scat Daddy was a brilliantly fast Gr1-winning 2YO & 3YO, with all the right credentials to become a top class sire. I was very impressed with his good looks & great walk when I saw him at Ashford earlier in the year; he should really appeal to Australian breeders."
