California 2YOs: US$700k Harlan's Holiday Filly

Thursday, 15th May 2008

In the US, Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables paid top price of US$700,000 for a filly by Harlan's Holiday (out of unraced 12-year-old Septieme Ciel mare Leading The Way) at the 1-day Barretts Equine May Sale of 2YOs-in-training at the Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park in Pomona in California. The filly (consigned by Murray Smith as agent) set a record as the highest-priced filly in the history of the Barretts May Sale. She had clocked 20.8sec for 2 furlongs during the pre-sale breeze-up sessions (the fastest quarter-mile recorded during 2 under-tack previews) & Jackson confirmed she would be sent to trainer Steve Asmussen (with whom he campaigns 2007 Horse-Of-The-Year Curlin).
