Singapore Internationals Update: Takeover Target
Meanwhile among the contenders for Sunday's S$1 million (A$800,000) Gr1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) Australia's multiple Gr1-winner Takeover Target (Celtic Swing-Shady Stream, by Archregent) "who only arrived just over 12 hours earlier, had his 1st feel of Kranji by stepping onto the fibresand for 2 rounds of trot & canter" reported the Singapore Turf Club's official tracknotes. Ridden by track rider Steve Jeffries, "the Australian sprinting star looked relaxed & calm, taking everything in his stride rather comfortably". Trainer Joe Janiak commented: "He travelled good & has settled in very well. I was very happy with the way he worked this morning. I weighed him after his work & he was a little on the heavy side. So I'll probably give him some work tomorrow (Friday). I'm just a little concerned about the humidity. He's all right in the air-conditioned box & then take him out to the warm & back to the cool. It is a little bit of a worry." Race rider Jay Ford (who arrived with Janiak on the same flight as Takeover Target) will assume the track-work duties this morning (Friday). Takeover Target drew gate 2 (in the field of 13) at yesterday's barrier draw.
