El Cambio Wins BTC Classic
Former Woodlands Stud & now Darley sire Commands (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) added a group success when gelded son El Cambio (Commands-Chaparra, by Canny Lad) made it 2 successive group victories when he prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $125,000 Gr3 Lyndhurst Stud BTC Classic (1350m) for 3YOs at Doomben. Woodlands home-bred (now Darley-owned) favourite El Cambio (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer Peter Snowden) scored by a half-neck (and then survived a protest by the runner-up) from fellow gelding Mr Unforgettable (Rubiton-La Marama, by Luskin Star) with a further neck to another gelding Diplomatic Force (Oamaru Force-Talk It Over, by Umatilla). Ultra-consistent El Cambio now has 5 wins (also including last start's course record time in the Gr3 Gold Coast Guineas over 1200m on May 3 plus the Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes over 1200m at Randwick on March 1, as well as 2007's Gr3 Run To The Rose over 1300m at Rosehill) & 4 runners-up (including the Gr2 Golden Rose over 1400m at Rosehill on March 15) from 10 starts for $569,950 earnings.
