St Culpe Wins NZ Great Northern Foal Stakes

Monday, 26th May 2008

On the NZ track, Coolmore's 7-time Gr1-winning shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill-Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest) added a juvenile black-type success when Australian-bred colt St Culpe (Rock Of Gibraltar-Run And Hide, by Ogygian) finished powerfully to score a half-length victory in the NZ$55,000 Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs at Ellerslie in Auckland. St Culpe (ridden by Leigh Innes for trainers Mike & Paul Moroney) defeated favoured gelding Bright Spark (Spartacus-Let's Can Can, by Full And By) & the filly Lucy's Sister (Istidaad-Leave Me Lucille, by Dehere). St Culpe (a $50,000 yearling at the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Sale & subsequently a NZ$500,000 2YO at the 2007 NZ Bloodstock Horses-In-Training Sale) took his record to 1 win & 1 placing from 3 starts for NZ$35,000 earnings.
