US Sire Silver Hawk Euthanased Aged 29

From 21 crops, Silver Hawk (Roberto-Gris Vitesse, by Amerigo) has sired 39 group or graded stakes-winners, including Japan's 1997 champion 2YO colt Grass Wonder, 1999 UK Gr1 St Leger winner Mutafaweq, 1989 Gr1 Prix de Diane-French Oaks winner Lady In Silver & US Gr1-winners Hawk Attack, Hawkster, Memories Of Silver, Nashoba's Key, Red Bishop, Silver Ending & Wonder Again. On the track, Silver Hawk recorded 3 wins from 8 starts (including the 1982 UK Gr3 Ladbrokes Craven Stakes plus 3rd in the Gr1 Epsom Derby). As broodmare sire, Silver Hawk's daughters have produced 4 Gr1-winners: Asi Siempre, Ticker Tape, Castledale & Playful Act (who sold for a broodmare record US$10.5 million at the 2007 Keeneland November breeding stock sale). In addition millionaire & multiple graded stakes-winner Badge Of Silver (who is standing his 2nd season at Airdrie Stud) is out of Silver Hawk mare Silveroo.
