Ben Walden Buys New Kentucky Farm
Kentucky breeder Ben Walden junior "has purchased a new farm to replace his Gracefield, which he sold earlier this year," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Walden commented: "I never expected to sell Gracefield, but with the World Equestrian Games coming along & its location, these show horse people wanted it." Gracefield is located at the intersection of Newtown & Iron Works Pikes in Lexington, just south of the Kentucky Horse Park where the World Equestrian Games will be held in 2010. Walden confirmed: "I bought a really nice farm in southern Woodford County, about 200 acres, called Valhalla. It already has a nice foaling barn & I've got to build a yearling barn & put in an Aquaciser & develop it. It's about 70% developed, I'd say. We're going to get down to about our 20 best mares from the 50 or 60 we have now." Walden is the son of late Kentucky breeder Ben Walden senior & brother of WinStar Farm vice president Elliott Walden.
