Tuesday, 5th August 2008

In Canada, former Vinery Stud shuttler Langfuhr (Danzig-Sweet Briar Too, by Briartic) added a black-type success when owner-breeder Gustav Schickedanz's colt Marlang (Langfuhr-Marienburg, by Conquistador Cielo) scored a 2.75-lengths victory in the 3rd leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the C$488,000 Listed Breeders' Stakes (12 furlongs on turf) for 3YOs at Woodbine in Toronto. Front-running Marlang (ridden by Richard Dos Ramos for trainer Debbie England) defeated fellow colt Sligovitz (Sligo Bay-Ms Deep Pockets, by Buckaroo) & favoured gelding Solitaire (Victory Gallop-Ring Star, by Great Gladiator). Earlier this season Marlang also won June's Listed Charlie Barley Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Woodbine & last start finished 3rd in the Listed Toronto Cup Stakes at Woodbine on July 12; overall he now has 3 wins from 7 starts for C$395,561 earnings.
