1st Winner For Touchstone Sire Helenus
Western Australia's North Dandalup-based Touchstone Farm's triple Gr1-winning 9YO stallion & former champion Australian 3YO colt Helenus (Helissio-Worldwide Elsie, by Java Gold) recorded his 1st winner when Saranda (Helenus-Baby Blue Eyes, by Is It True) scored on debut over 1000m at Sandown in Melbourne yesterday for trainer Leon Corstens. Saranda was a $102,500 yearling at the 2007 Perth Magic Millions Sale. His sire Helenus (an $80,000 yearling at the 2001 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) recorded 5 wins from 1600-2500m (including the Gr1 Victoria Derby, Gr1Rosehill Guineas, Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, Gr2 AAMI Vase & Gr2 Bill Stutt Stakes) & 3 placings (including the Gr3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude) from 18 starts for $2,114,680 earnings. Helenus is standing the 2008 season at Touchstone for $11,000.
