El Segundo Heads 2007-08 ANZ Classifications
The 2007-08 ANZ Classifications have been released (reflecting the best individual performances by horses during the recently concluded racing season in Australia & New Zealand) with El Segundo's victory in the Gr1 Cox Plate (2040m at Moonee Valley) heading the list at a 123 rating. Champion sprinter/miler Weekend Hussler (the highest rated 3YO) followed on 122: achieved in both the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m at Flemington) & Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m at Rosehill). Apache Cat rated 121 in the Gr1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m at Randwick) & again in the Gr1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m). Efficient was the highest rated horse in the Long (2101-2700m) & Extended (2700m+) categories on 120 for his win in the Gr1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) & Haradasun also rated 120 in winning the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes (8 furlongs) at Royal Ascot in June.
