Defensora Wins Puerto Rico Gr1 Mongil

In the Caribbean, star filly Defensora (Myfavorite Place-La Abogada, by Sneaky Solicitor) raced away for a 7-lengths victory over her male rivals in Puerto Rico's Gr1 Clasico Antonio Mongil (9 furlongs) for 3YOs at Camarero. Defensora (ridden by J.Diaz for trainer J.Rodriguez) defeated Traqueteo (Myfavorite Place-Lorena U, by Sneaky Solicitor) & Kristian Quiles (Casanova Star-Princesa De Oro, by Noblesse Oil). Last month Defensora also blitzed her male rivals by 8.25-lengths in the Gr1 Copa San Juan (9.5 furlongs) at Camarero; & previously this year Defensora similarly defeated her female rivals by 7-lengths in Puerto Rico's Gr1 Clasico Ramon Llobet (9 furlongs) in March & finished runner-up in May's Gr1 Derby Puertorriqueno (8.5 furlongs). In a sensational juvenile run during 2007, Defensora won Puerto Rico's Gr1 Clasico Luis Muniz Rivera Memorial (6 furlongs) by 2.25-lengths in July, Gr1 Clasico Criadores De Puerto Rico (6 furlongs) by 2.5-lengths in August, Gr1 Clasico Vuelve Candy B Stakes (6.5 furlongs) by 4-lengths in September & Gr1 Clasico Camarero (7 furlongs) by 9.25-lengths in October.
