Texas Yearlings Final Average Down 12%

Overall at the Fasig-Tipton Texas summer sale, 281 yearlings sold for US$3,369,700 (up 2.6% from last year's 241 sold for US$3,283,200. However the US$11,992 average was down 12% (from last year's record US$13,623) & the US$4,500 median declined 27.4% (last year US$6,200). The 36.6% buy-back rate remained almost unchanged (last year 36.9%). Fasig-Tipton Texas director of sales Tim Boyce told thoroughbredtimes.com: "The whole year has to pass before we measure how we did, but my gut feeling is that we did pretty well. We sold more horses for over US$70,000 than we did last year; we had 10 this year & 6 last year."
