1st Nth Hemisphere Danroad Yearling Makes $101k

Wednesday, 3rd September 2008

The 1st yearling by NZ Highview Stud stallion Danroad (Danehill-Strawberry Girl, by Strawberry Road) to be offered for sale in the Northern Hemisphere sold for £48,000 (A$101,000) at last week's UK Doncaster Bloodstock St Leger Sale. Agent Luke Lillingston bought the colt (out of Diesis mare Demeter) who was bred by the Hong Kong Breeders' Club & offered on their behalf from Canice Farrell's Knockatrina House Stud. Danroad made a sensational start with his 1st runners in the just-completed 2007-08 Southern Hemisphere season, finishing as leading NZ-based 1st-season sire (based on Australasian progeny earnings) led by Gr1 T.J.Smith Classic winner Rockdale (who also finished 2nd in the Gr2 QTC Sires' Produce Stakes).
