UK Tatts Mares Day-3: $1m Sanwa
Agent Charlie Gordon-Watson (acting on behalf of Breeding Capital) out-bid BBA Germany's Dirk Eisele & the French Bloodstock Agency's Jean-Pierre Deroubaix to pay 400,000 guineas (A$1m) for unraced 4YO mare Sanwa (Monsun-Sacarina, by Old Vic) consigned from Joe Hernon's Castletown Stud with a cover to Juddmonte Farms stallion Dansili. Sanwa is an own-sister to a trio of Classic winners: Gr1 Deutches Derby winning pair Schiaparelli & Samum, plus Gr1 Preis der Diana winner Salve Regina. Gordon-Watson told racingpost.com: "She was a neat little mare & almost a double for her mother. The Dansili will put a bit of size into her. She's for the new Breeding Capital partnership & it's been hard to get the right mares this week. We are a bit behind schedule, but we've tried to tread carefully & that's a policy that has paid off in the past."
