Shadwell Slashes Sakhee & Haafhd Fees 33%
In the UK, barely 6 weeks after confirming the 2009 stallion fee for both Sakhee (Bahri-Thawakib, by Sadler's Wells) & Haafhd (Alhaarth-Al Bahathri, by Blushing Groom) would be £12,000 (A$28,800), Norfolk-based Shadwell Stud announced that in light of the market downturn, those 2 sires will instead now have those fees slashed by 33% to £8,000 (A$19,200). Stud director Richard Lancaster commented: "We are purely responding to the market down turn & feel it is only fair, in light of the prices at Tattersalls & Goffs, to revise our fees. We were the 1st to announce our fees for 2009 and, obviously, there have now been dramatic changes, both in the world financial market & the bloodstock market, since the beginning of October when we announced our fees."
