Monday, 15th December 2008

Also in Canada, Woodbine stewards suspended jockey Simon Husbands for 1-year "after determining he did not try his hardest to win the 3rd race on November 30 at Woodbine" reported thoroughbredtimes.com. His brother & fellow jockey Patrick Husbands (a 6-time Sovereign Award winner) won the race aboard Come On Love, while Simon Husbands finished 2nd (0.75-length behind) on Bug's Boy. Ontario Racing Commission Supervisor Brent Stone noted Husbands "did not persevere with his mount throughout the race or demonstrate an effort to ensure the best & fastest race of which his mount was capable."
