Reward For Effort Wins Blue Diamond Preview (C&G)
Darley stallion & last season's champion Australian 1st-season sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) added a juvenile black-type success when debutant colt Reward For Effort (Exceed And Excel-Miss Prospect, by Rory's Jester) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in yesterday's $100,000 Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for 2YO colts & geldings at Caulfield. Reward For Effort (ridden by Dwayne Dunn for trainer Peter Moody) defeated previously unbeaten top-weight & favoured gelding Rarefied (Commands-Subtle, by Night Shift) & front-running fellow debutant colt Bombay Sling (Danzero-Gin Sling, by Western Symphony). Reward For Effort (a $190,000 yearling at the 2008 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne) has now earned $60,500 for his initial win.
