Barretts California Jan Mixed: Median Up 12.5%
In the US auction ring, "with a significantly smaller catalogue it came as no surprise that total receipts plummeted at the 1-day Barretts Equine January Mixed Sale, but median rose 12.5% to provide a silver lining at Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park in Pomona in California," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Barretts reduced the sale from 2-days in 2008 to a single session this year & offered 205 fewer horses. As a result, 202 lots sold for US$1,232,400 (down 44.6% from last year's 354 sold for US$2,225,900). The US$6,101 average dipped 3% (last year US$6,288) while the US$3,600 median rose 12.5 % (last year US$3,200).
