Lightning Likely Switch To Sunday Amid Melb Heatwave
Friday, 30th January 2009
Meanwhile tomorrow's Gr1 Lightning Stakes meeting at Flemington "will be delayed until Sunday unless the weather bureau can today confirm some relief from the brutal 40C-plus temperatures that have had Melbourne sweltering in recent days," warned The Herald-Sun. Racing Victoria chief executive Rob Hines said the meeting was "under review, with a decision to be made as soon as possible today". And Victoria Racing Club chief executive Dale Monteith said the "contingency plan was to hold the meeting on Sunday".
