Texas 2YOs: Average Up 0.23%

Thursday, 2nd April 2009

Overall at the Fasig-Tipton Texas Sale, 144 2YOs sold for US$2,477,000 (down 14.1% from last year's 168 sold for US$2,883,000). However the US$17,201 average was up 0.23% (last year US$17,161) while the US$9,650 median fell 35.7% (Last year US$15,000). The buy-back rate was 30.4% (down from 35.4% last year). The results "exceeded expectations when the average price held steady amidst tumbling figures at juvenile auctions across the country," summed up bloodhorse.com. And Fasig-Tipton Texas director of sales Tim Boyce added: "Coming into this sale with a good catalogue & good horses, I was optimistic & that optimism was well-served. In this economic climate, breaking even is better than the alternative."
