Del Toro Wins NZ Great Easter Stakes

Chequers Stud sire Deputy Governor (Master Willie-Regent Miss, by Vice Regent) added a black-type success when 8YO gelding Del Toro (Deputy Governor-Phantom's Lady, by Sir Tristram) scored a 1-length victory in the NZ$50,000 Listed Great Easter Stakes (1400m) at Riccarton Park. Del Toro (ridden by David Walsh for trainers Jim Campin & Mark Fraser-Campin) defeated fellow 8YO gelding Happy Harry (Volksraad-Princess Kura, by Western Symphony) & 5YO gelding O'Cartier (My Halo-Carinda, by The Jogger). Del Toro now has 9 wins & 8 placings (including 2006's Listed Levin Stakes over 1400m at Otaki) from 43 starts for NZ$218,235 earnings.
