Tuesday, 14th April 2009

Former Coolmore-owned NZ Cambridge Stud shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) added a group success when 4YO mare Miss Maren (Stravinsky-Deebee Lady, by Brilliant Invader) made it 4 successive victories with a 1.25-lengths win in the $125,000 Gr3 Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Miss Maren (ridden by Glen Boss for trainer Mick Price) defeated 4YO entire Raffaello (Encosta De Lago-Sweet Delight, by Rancho Ruler) & top-weighted favoured 5YO gelding Light Vision (Zerpour-Switches, by Naturalism). Miss Maren (a $160,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 6 wins (also including last month's Listed Schweppervescence Stakes over 2005m at Morphettville) & 3 placings (including 2008's Gr3 Hidden Dragon Doomben Roses over 2020m) from 17 starts for $241,833 earnings.
