Inglis Easter Broodmares Day-1: $525k Belong To Many

Bloodstock agent Vin Cox paid $525,000 for 5YO mare Belong To Many (Belong To Me-Foil, by Snippets) consigned by Hancox Racing. Belong To Many (originally a $20,000 yearling consigned by Widden Stud at the 2005 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) finished runner-up in Saturday's Gr2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick in Sydney (& has not been to stud). Overall Belong To Many boasts 7 wins (including last month's Listed Wenona Girl Handicap over 1200m at Randwick, plus 2008's Gr2 Sapphire Stakes over 1200m at Randwick & Listed Le Tan Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) & 12 placings (also including March's Gr3 Birthday Card Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill, plus both February's Gr3 Millie Fox Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill & Gr2 Breeders Classic over 1200m at Randwick, as well as 2008's Listed Starlight Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill) from 27 starts for $444,160 earnings. Cox (who confirmed he purchased the mare on behalf of an existing client & expected to pay around that mark) commented: "She will race on in the short term in the hope of getting that elusive Gr1. We will then just see how she is going & a decision will be made later on as to whether she retires this year or races on (next season)."
