King De Lago To Stand At Bullarook Park
Unraced 7YO stallion King de Lago (Encosta de Lago-Ranch Lady, by Rancher) will stand the 2009 breeding season at Victoria's Avenel-based Bullarook Park Stud. Bullarook owner Malcolm Boyd noted: "King de Lago is truly an outstanding individual with a growing reputation for producing excellent types. I am pleased he has remained in Victoria (he previously stood at Eldon Park) & available to the many breeders who have supported him in his opening seasons at stud. With his first crop 2YOs now in the hands of David Hayes, John McArdle & other leading trainers he is ready to make his mark at stud." King de Lago's multiple-winning dam Ranch Lady is a half-sister to Gr3-winning sprinter Deposition, Listed winner Accuse & Hong Kong warrior Danzighill. This is also the family of multiple Gr1-winner Ball Park & Gr2-winner Danabaa. Owner Gary Ashmore added: "Breeders looking for a proven speed influence will recognise his damsire Rancher, who is well remembered as the undefeated Australasian 2YO Champion racehorse. With 8 wins at group or listed level including the Gr1 Blue Diamond, Maribyrnong Plate, Ascot Vale Stakes, Debutant Stakes & Merson Cooper, he adds an important dimension to King de Lago's pedigree."
