And on the same card at Turffontein, former Coolmore shuttler Orpen (Lure-Bonita Francita, by Devil's Bag) added a South African Gr1 triumph when Argentine-bred 3YO gelding Private Jet (Orpen-Pacatyba, by Itajara) gained the judge's decision against older rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the R1 million (A$151,000) Gr1 Computaform Sprint (1000m). Private Jet (ridden by Piere Strydom for trainer Geoff Woodruff) scored by a short-head from 5YO entire Rebel King (National Emblem-Cousin Linda, by Badger Land) with a further short-head to 3YO colt Warm White Night (Western Winter-Thousand Nights, by Foveros). Private Jet took his record to 4 wins (also including 2008's G3 Lebelo Sprint over 1000m at Turffontein) & a placing (in last start's Gr3 Man O War Sprint over 1100m at Turffontein on March 28) from 5 starts for R984,375 (A$150,000) earnings.
