Fulmonti Wins Hollindale Stakes

Monday, 4th May 2009

Dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a group success when 6YO gelding Fulmonti (Montjeu-Grosvenor's Pride, by Grosvenor) charged home from the back of the field to score a half-neck victory in the $300,000 weight-for-age Gr2 A.D.Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast. Fulmonti (ridden by Joe Bowditch for trainer Chris Jordan) defeated 3YO colt Izonit (Volksraad-Label Basher, by Conquistarose) & front-running 7YO gelding Sir Slick (Volksraad-Miss Opera, by Paris Opera). Fulmonti (a NZ$100,000 yearling at the 2004 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale) now has 8 wins (also including 2008's Gr3 Chairman's Handicap over 2020m at Doomben) & 19 placings (including both 2008's Gr2 Brisbane Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm & Gr3 Premier's Cup over 2200m at Doomben) from 48 starts for $621,400 earnings.
