Rebel Raider Wins Gr1 South Australian Derby

Unbeaten multiple Gr1-winning Darley stallion Reset (Zabeel-Assertive Lass, by Zeditave) added a Gr1 triumph when favoured colt Rebel Raider (Reset-Picholine, by Dehere) scored a front-running 4-lengths victory in the $300,000 Gr1 South Australian Derby (2500m) for 3YOs at Morphettville. Rebel Raider (ridden by Clare Lindop for trainer Leon MacDonald) defeated fellow colts Astro Gains (Taimazov-Kutterbul, by Captain Piper) & Fitoussi (Hussonet-It's A Miracle, by Hula Chief). Rebel Raider (a $150,000 yearling consigned by Mill Park at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 5 wins (also including last start's Listed Chairman's TAB Stakes over 2000m at Morphettville on April 18, plus 2008's Gr1 Victoria Derby over 2500m at Flemington & Gr3 Darley Sires' Produce Stakes over 1600m in Adelaide) & 3 placings (including 2008's Listed Geelong Classic over 2206m) from 15 starts for $1,298,775 earnings.
