Monday, 4th May 2009

In the UK, former Darley shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a Gr1 triumph when Irish-bred colt Sea The Stars (Cape Cross-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) returned from a 7-months spell to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the £426,000 (A$883,000) Gr1 2000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YOs at Newmarket. Sea The Stars (ridden by Mick Kinane for trainer John Oxx) defeated favoured colt Delegator (Dansili-Indian Love Bird, by Efisio) & fellow Irish-bred colt Gan Amhras (Galileo-All's Forgotten, by Darshaan). Sea The Stars (a half-brother to Gr1-winners Galileo, Black Sam Bellamy & My Typhoon) now has 3 wins (also including his previous start in September 2008's Irish Gr2 Beresford Stakes over 8 furlongs at The Curragh) from 4 starts for £311,612 (A$645,000) earnings.
