NZ Weanlings Day-2: NZ$100k Darci Brahma Colt

Wednesday, 6th May 2009

In New Zealand, Tony & Claire Anderson's Papakura-based Ballydoyle paid top price of NZ$100,000 for a colt by The Oaks Stud's 5-time Gr1-winning & 5-time Gr1-placed 1st-crop stallion Darci Brahma (the 9th foal out of winning 19-year-old Pompeii Court mare Valley Court) during yesterday's closing session of the Weanling Section at the 3-day NZ Bloodstock National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka in Auckland. The colt (originally passed-in for NZ$80,000 during the opening session) was consigned from Tom & Shelley Murtagh's Esker Lodge & is a half-brother to dual Gr1-winner Hail. Claire Anderson confirmed the colt has been pin-hooked for the 2010 NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sales Series & noted: "He's a lovely colt with a great attitude already. We were also attracted to his pedigree & expect that Darci Brahma's progeny are going to be popular come the yearling sales in January."
