$16.5k Dane Shadow Up 114% At Kitchwin Hills

Thursday, 7th May 2009

NSW's Scone-based Kitchwin Hills announced Gr3-winning & triple Gr2-placed 7YO 1st-crop stallion Dane Shadow (Danehill-Slight Chance, by Centaine) has had his 2009 service fee raised 114% & will stand his 4th season in the Hunter Valley at $16,500. Kitchwin Hills stud manager Mick Malone noted: "He has had to prove himself & has done it the hard way. There has been growing interest in this horse since his 1st yearlings went through the ring in 2008 & he wouldn't be the 1st successful son of Danehill to build his own reputation. He's a hot sire & in 2009 his yearlings have sold for nearly 8 times his advertised service fee. With the dramatic increase in quality of mares he covered last season & what we know & expect he will cover this season, the best is yet to come. We have set his fee in 2009 to reflect the growth in quality of mares that will go to him, but it also has placed him perfectly for those breeders wishing to use an in-demand rising star, with a limited book, at a fee that will give them a commercial return at yearling sale time."
