Thursday, 7th May 2009

A US federal grand jury overnight indicted Florida jockey Ricardo Alfredo Valdes & 2 others "for what federal authorities say was a conspiracy to influence results at Tampa Bay Downs," reported bloodhorse.com. The indictment (on charges of "charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud & conspiracy to commit sports bribery") alleges Michigan men Ghazi Manni & Mitchell Edward Karam "paid Valdes & other jockeys in order to gather inside information at Tampa Bay Downs". The case "also involves races at tracks in Delaware & Michigan".
