Daggers Drawn Adds UK Gr3

Monday, 11th May 2009

Former NZ Curraghmore Stud shuttler Daggers Drawn (Diesis-Sun And Shade, by Ajdal) added a UK group success when Irish-bred 4YO mare San Sicharia (Daggers Drawn-Spinamix, by Spinning World) came from the rear of the field to snatch victory by a nose in the £65,000 (A$135,000) Gr3 Chartwell Fillies Stakes (7 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Lingfield Park. San Sicharia (ridden by Pat Smullen for trainer Joanna Morgan) defeated Irish-bred 3YO filly Baileys Cacao (Invincible Spirit-Baileys Cream, by Mister Baileys) & fellow 3YO filly Please Sing (Royal Applause-Persian Song, by Persian Bold). San Sicharia was a €38,000 (A$71,000) weanling at the 2005 Goffs November Sale, then a 40,000 guineas (A$88,000) yearling at the 2006 UK Tattersalls October Sale & finally a 165,000 guineas (A$363,000) 3YO at the 2008 UK Tattersalls December Horses-In-Training Sale. Overall she now has 3 wins & 3 placings (in both 2008's UK Gr3 Summer Stakes over 6 furlongs at York & French Listed Prix Aymeri De Mauleon over 1600m at Toulouse) from 9 starts for £77,678 (A$161,000) earnings.
