French 2YOs: $307k Nayef Colt

Monday, 11th May 2009

Agent Richard O'Gorman paid €165,000 (A$307,000) for a colt by Nayef (out of Fasliyev mare Fasliyeva) consigned from Con Marnane's Bansha House Stables, which had retained him for 45,000 guineas (A$99,000) at the UK Tattersalls Craven Sale. Trainer David Loder confirmed the colt "will race under the Darley banner in the future" & told racingpost.com: "We liked the horse a lot in Newmarket, but we felt he didn't breeze very well at that sale. He did a very good canter this morning & confirmed our original thoughts about him. He is a nice type by a stallion who is doing extremely well." Marnane added: "We brought him to the Craven Breeze-Up but he didn't make his reserve there. I was confident he was a lovely horse & felt he deserved a 2nd chance. I'm very pleased he proved me right today."
