NZ$35k Stravinsky Returns To Cambridge Stud
Sir Patrick Hogan announced former Coolmore shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) will return to Cambridge Stud in New Zealand for the coming season (from his current base at Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan) after an absence of 2 years. Stravinsky did not return to NZ in 2007 due to the Equine Influenza outbreak in Australia (instead spending the 2007 breeding season at Coolmore Australia at a fee of $44,000) & his return from Japan was stymied again last year by quarantine protocols. Stravinsky boasts 521 winners (in 29 countries) from 750 runners, with 55 individual stakes-winners (including 7 Gr1-winners). And in the auction ring this year, Stravinsky had: 31 yearlings sell at the NZ Bloodstock Karaka Sale for an average NZ$195,194 (including 2nd-top-price filly from Diamond Smile for NZ$775,000); & at the Inglis Sydney Easter Sale, his yearlings sold up to $460,000 at an average $198,750. Hogan confirmed yesterday: "Stravinsky will travel via both America & Australia & quarantine in both places before arriving in NZ. There has been huge enquiry for the horse & I expect his book (limited to 110 mares) to be full within a short period." Stravinsky will stand at NZ$35,000+GST.
