Inglis Melb Day-4: 88% Clearance

Friday, 22nd May 2009

Overall on Day-4 at the Inglis Great Southern Sale, 183 lots sold (88%) for $1,106,300 at an average $6,045 & a median $2,250. Combined with the $2,127,100 traded during the 2-day weanling session & the previous day's $1.7m bloodstock opening, the sale total for the 4-days came to $4.923 million (down 16% on last year's $5.9 million when an additional 350 horses were catalogued). Inglis director Peter Heagney summed up: "The clearance rate has been consistently high right throughout the sale. We had a good spread of buyers from right around Australia & there was strong competition on the better lots. In light of the fact we had considerably fewer horses catalogued this year, the market has held up extremely well."
