Aust-Bred Flying Fulton Wins NZ Great Northern

Monday, 25th May 2009

In New Zealand, Arrowfield Stud stallion & former champion Australian sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a juvenile black-type success when Australian-bred colt Flying Fulton (Flying Spur-Fulton, by Zabeel) scored by a long head in the NZ$50,000 Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs at Ellerslie in Auckland. Flying Fulton (ridden by Vinny Colgan for trainer Mark Walker) defeated fellow colt Bally Duff (O'Reilly-Zazu, by Rhythm) & front-running gelding Justanexcuse (No Excuse Needed-Aggressive, by Val Dansant). Flying Fulton (a NZ$210,000 purchase at last November's NZ Bloodstock 2YO Ready-To-Run Sale) took his record to 1 win & 2 placings from 4 starts for NZ$33,300 earnings.
