Street Cry Adds US Gr2

In the US, former Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a Gr1 triumph (& 3rd-placing) when undefeated 5YO mare & 2008 US Champion Older Female Zenyatta (Street Cry-Vertigineux, by Kris S) returned from a 7-months spell to score a 1.75-lengths victory in the US$150,000 Gr2 Milady Handicap (8.5 furlongs on all-weather) for fillies & mares at Hollywood Park in California, taking this race for the 2nd successive year. Zenyatta (ridden by Mike Smith for trainer John Shirreffs) raced in last place before circling the field to defeat 4YO mares Life Is Sweet (Storm Cat-Sweet Life, by Kris S) & Allicansayis Wow (Street Cry-Crown Of Jewels, by Half A Year). Kentucky-bred Zenyatta (a US$60,000 yearling at Keeneland in September 2005) is a half-sister to multiple Gr1-winner Balance & was unraced as a juvenile. Overall she now boasts 10 wins (also including 2008's Gr1 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic over 9 furlongs at Santa Anita, Gr1 Apple Blossom Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Oaklawn Park, Gr1 Vanity Invitational Handicap over 9 furlongs at Hollywood Park, Gr1 Lady's Secret Breeders' Cup Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Santa Anita, Gr2 El Encino Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Santa Anita & Gr2 Clement Hirsch Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Del Mar) from 10 starts for US$2,234,580 earnings.
