Fallon Denies Plan To Start Training In Ireland

Wednesday, 27th May 2009

Also in Ireland, 6-time UK champion jockey Kieren Fallon (currently serving a world-wide 18-months ban, imposed in January 2008 by France Galop, following a 2nd positive test for cocaine) "has dismissed a report suggesting he plans to train from the 33-acre farm he owns at Mortlestown (7 miles from Coolmore in County Tipperary) after retiring from the saddle," reported racingpost.com. Fallon (who cannot return to race-riding until September this year) bought the property 2 years ago for €750,000 (A$1.35m) & speculation it "was set to become his training base when calling time on his race-riding career, was sparked when he & a business partner submitted a planning application to carry out extensive work on the site". However when asked whether he planned to train there himself, Fallon declared: "Oh God no! The place was bought as an investment & we just wanted to clean it up for breeding purposes more so than anything else."
