Sydney Clubs Sweat On Merger Report

Tuesday, 16th June 2009

Sydney's 2 metropolitan racing clubs "have another week to wait to see whether an independent consultant's report makes the case for the Sydney Turf Club (Rosehill Gardens & Canterbury Park) & Australian Jockey Club (Royal Randwick & Warwick Farm) to join in a super club," reported The Sydney Morning Herald. The report (commissioned by the NSW Minister For Racing Kevin Greene) "is in its final stages". The author Ernst & Young "made a presentation to the board of Racing NSW yesterday & will return with the finished article next Monday". It will "then be handed to the STC & AJC, along with Gosford & Wyong race clubs (which are also being assessed with a merger in mind) before it is released to the public next Tuesday".
