Gr1 Manikato Stakes Joins US Breeders' Cup Series

The US Breeders' Cup organisers announced Australia's Gr1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in Melbourne has been included as a Breeders' Cup Challenge series race, with its winner earning an automatic starting berth into the US$25.5 million Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park in California on November 6-7. Moonee Valley chief executive Michael Browell commented: "The Moonee Valley Racing Club is delighted to be involved in the expanding International Breeders' Cup Challenge races & provide our premium Gr1 sprinting race The Manikato Stakes as the 1st Australian race to be linked with the Breeders Cup. The Manikato Stakes (to be run under lights on Friday September 25) will showcase Australia's best sprinters & we will look forward to hosting Singapore sprinting star Rocket Man in this premium Gr1 event."
