Blue Gum Farm Stakes-Winner Retired
Victorian-based Blue Gum Farm have decided 4YO mare Inkster (Umatilla-Delgara, by Delgado) will be retired to stud, after last Saturday's impressive Caulfield win, reported racenet.com. Inkster (ridden by Craig Newitt for trainer Mick Price) won by 2.5-lengths in the Glasshouse Handicap (2400m) at Caulfield on July 18. "We've decided to retire her," Blue Gum Farm's client relations manager Darryl Sherer said. "She left the stable on Monday and she's now back home here at Euroa to get ready for the breeding season." Inkster (passed in as a yearling for $55,000 at the 2006 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) was retained to race by Blue Gum Farm. Inkster retires with 5 wins (including 2008's Listed VRC St Ledger over 2800m at Flemington) & 5 placings (including 2008's Gr3 SA Oaks over 2500m at Morphettville) from 18 starts for $249,780 earnings. A final decision has not been made as to which stallion she will go to, but suggestions are Elvstroem or Encosta De Lago.
