Verglas Adds UK Black-Type
In Europe overnight, former West Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Verglas (Highest Honor-Rahaam, by Secreto) added a UK juvenile black-type success when Irish-bred gelded son Hold Your Colour (Verglas-Azia, by Desert Story) scored a 1-length victory in the £30,000 (A$59,000) Listed Ripon Champion 2YO Trophy (6 furlongs) for 2YOs at Ripon in Britain. Hold Your Colour (ridden by Eddie Ahern for trainer Brian Meehan) defeated front-running filly Skylla (Kyllachy-Day Star, by Dayjur) & the colt Di Stefano (Bahamian Bounty-Marisa, by Desert Sun). Hold Your Colour (who now has 2 wins from 2 starts) was originally a €38,000 (A$65,000) foal at the 2007 Goffs November Sale & later a £30,000 (A$59,000) yearling at the 2008 Doncaster Bloodstock St Leger Sale.
